Head

Head is a leading manufacturer of tennis equipment. It was founded in Baltimore, Maryland in 1950 by aeronautical engineer Howard Head, after he took a ski trip and was astonished to see his skis were made of wood in an era when metals and plastics were replacing wood in many product designs. The same concept applied when in late 1960’s a tennis division was created within the company to make the shift from wooden racquets to aluminum. In 1969 US Open the introduction of aluminum tennis racquets became popular in tennis racquet industry. One of the early tennis greats to play with Head tennis racquets is Arthur Ashe, who won Wimbledon in 1975 among other accomplishments.

Head racquets are used by many current top players like Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Tommy Haas, Richard Gasquet, Tomas Berdych, Leander Paes, Maria Sharapova etc. Roughly 30% of the Top 100 tennis players on the ATP Tour currently use Head tennis racquets.

Apart from skis and tennis, Head is also a market leader in racquetball and badminton products. In 1997, Head became the first company to create the titanium and graphite racquet. This paved the way for other brands that followed suit. They continue to be a leader in innovation and enhancement in technology while offering top of the line products for the everyday tennis player such as grips, hats, shoes, string, wristbands, and even bags.
